yeah of course.. that's normal. coz as you watch it, you empathize with the character.. so i think its just normal.. it definitely wont be if your activities of daily living is already being affected,, like working, getting out with your friends, etc. etc.

I did get upset at the ending of Phillip Pullman's Dark Matter Trilogy - but it was at the death of an ideology represented by the characters. Harry Potter is a popular character, but what he represents is pretty nebulous.

if the reader got upset enough that it made them hate reading, cuz they put all that effort into identifying with the character only to have them die, then they would be seriously affected. a lot of kids didnt read that much til harry potter came out. what if they decided they hated the books, and stopped reading. that would be tragic. personally, i dont care if a main character dies, but i know kids who do and really might respond that way.

Not seriously affected no, but children and even adults may sympathize with a character to the point of feeling seriously upset and saddened by their death. I don't feel that this would be likely to ahve long term consequences of course though.

Actually, I cried when Dumbledore died. Even though I don't really think he's dead. What would be worse though, is if you really look like your picture.
