Lets face it, even breathing causes greenhouse gasses and in geological terms the world heats up and cools down all the time. Whats the big deal?

There is no big deal. There has been global warming and cooling since long before man got here. Volcano's put in more than burning coal...quit hugging trees.

Aircraft demand very high energy density aviation grade fuels that are only available from refined oil. Ultimately oil should be restricted exclusively for use as an aviation fuel. So yes we have a very serious addiction to oil. Propane is considered a vastly cleaner fuel but has limited energy density which is well suited for cooking, heating and somewhat adequate for land based transportation. Coal is a solid and dirty fuel and is best suited for producing steam as for electrical power generation turbines.

It's necessary mostly because of the enormous
amount of money made by the 'powers'. Only the government robbing us by taxes tops the oil companies ability to acquire our wealth. The saddest part is that most of us thinks things is getting better. Remember, there's much more money in war than in peace.
