He played briefly for the Lions and the Colts after being released in Green Bay. He was a Pro Bowler in 1989

I couldn't tell you for sure who the Packers had right before Favre, but not too long before he came around Don Majikowski was there.

Don Majikowski his nickname was "Majik" and he got injured in a game against the Bengals and Favre came in. He does the packers game on the radio.
