Always remember that you are the mom. The kid does not make your schedule; you make the kids' schedule.
Anyway, with new age comes new experiences. Alomost everything is new again as she learns sounds to go with pictures. Here are a few tips to get me through sleepless nights with a growing baby:
- Make sure she is well-fed and dry, as well as comfortable temperature-wise. Growing babies can start to adjust their own body temperatures, and warm or cold babies will not sleep as well.
- Give her a bath right before bed if that makes her sleepy. Avoid them if they waken her.
- Do not try to put her to bed after rigorous playing, thinking you "tired her out". She will still be wired.
- Avoid sugars and caffeine in her diet two hours before bed.
-Do not hold her and rock her to sleep, and never let a baby nurse to sleep; it will cause mouth rot.
-Do not sleep with her in your bed.
-Dance with her and sing or read a story.
- If all else fails, strap baby in and go for a car ride. It relaxes Mom and the baby. If you don't drive, find someone who does.
Good luck! During this time of new adjustment, expect some sleepless nights.

Sounds like you need a new bedtime routine. My 12 month old is the same way. An hour before she normally goes to bed, she gets a warm bath with lavendar as lavendar helps soothe and makes one sleepy. We, too, put jammies on and read a book. She, too, loves her Ocean Wonders aquarium and gloworm since birth. If you don't have either one for the crib, I highly recommend it!

My cousin had the same problem with her kids at that age, the old bedtime routine wasn't working. Make sure they don't take naps and keep them active during the day, at night do quiet activities. Read books, watch t.v.,have dinner. Keep everything relaxed before bed and busy during the day. Let nightime be a time for their body to rest, try evening baths with lavender as well.

If you generally do a bath shortly before bedtime, trying using a body wash with lavender in it. it is a natural relaxing agent that wont harm your baby.

Rocking chair. We have one in my three year old's room. She's great at going to sleep by herself. Every once in a while, she still wants to be rocked to sleep or she just wants me in the room while she falls asleep.
