Because the government makes more vehicle taxation off of circular wheels? In actuality square wheels would be more gas efficient, and better on the eys......
Also, for that matter.....why do we call wheels "wheels"? Would a wheel by any other name roll as easy?

Because square wheels can't roll, dear, and we need to be able to roll things on the ground instead of lifting or dragging them. Wheels cause less friction.
Less friction=Easier to move.

The wouldnt be able to roll around very easily. It would be quite the bumpy ride....which now that I think about it, might not be a bad thing...hmmmm lol
