Why FC Inter is known as Inter Milan around the world?

It is kinda of weird since Milan are actually the hated cousins. you know, in Italy it is just INTER! I mean, AC Milan is not known as Milan Milan, or Juve as Juve Turin, Roma Roma, Lazio Roma... because i hate that! INTER is just one! Why FC Inter is known as Inter Milan around the world?

the name of the club is "Football Club Internazionale Milano"....so inter milan for short seems to work. people just need to make sure they dont confuse AC milan (which is actually "Associazione Calcio Milan") with inter milan.

Adding the own city name after the foreign club's name was usual in the past (i.e. Ajax Amsterdam) and sometimes it was useful (especially in Eastern Europe with clubs as Dinamo Kiev, Moscow, Minsk and many others - Legia - Steaua - Universitatea - Torpedo); there are Borussia Dortmund and Moenchengladbach; Bayer (Leverkusen) sounds close to Bayern (Munich).
In Italy they are simply called "Real", "Inter" and "Juve" instead Real Madrid, Internazionale Milano and Juventus Torino.
However, Inter MILAN is an english term. In Italy it's MILANO and not MILAN, so a misunderstanding couldn't happen.
I guess in foreign countries adding "Milan" helps to spare Inter from Internacional (Medellin, Porto Alegre if I well remember). Milan, Roma, Lazio are the names of 1 club only. In Italy there are some Juve (Juve Stabia).
Of course, if there is only such a club name, it's useless to add the own city, so we don't say Chelsea - Fulham - Arsenal - Tottenham - West Ham - Charlton-LONDON or dozens of clubs- BUENOS AIRES... ;-)

I am nepalese the foreign club i knew first was inter milan (sorry for that). And today i knew it is not the real name of the club. I think the club is known all over the world by name Inter Milan because many of clubs are known by their city name as it represents the city as FC bryan, Ajax,real.
