As long as the rent you pay for the space is reasonable, vending can generate decent profits. Food cost is a little higher, but labour is minimal. Ask youself before you move ahead what kind of clientele shops at this mall? Are there alot of kids stores, schools nearby. If not, then you are asking for a losing proposition.

You can make money at anything. You are threading dangerous waters when you jump in head first without any knowledge or experience.

A couple of things about vending that I have found doing research on it. Competition is fierce. Unless you have a loyal customer base you will be undercut by every fly by nite operation who offers a better return. Having said that, if you aren't willing to contact the locations and put in the time to service the machines that break, repair or replace the machines that are vandalized and replace the machines that are stolen then you might want to try another business. Start off small and test the waters. You can go on ebay or even classified ad sites and pick up machines cheap from people who had high expectations. Definitely don't buy large packages again without gaining some experience first otherwise you will be selling yours on ebay as well.

You can also check the mall rates. In a mall with decent traffic you pay upwards of $600-$700 a month for a kiosk for non holiday months and upwards to $2500 for the holiday months. I guess people with these unmanned vending kiosk are making enough to cover their expense but I don't see how. At $600 a month that is $20 a day to cover the rent. That is alot of bubblegum.
