I recently got a magazine and it talks about how to outsmart swimmer's ear. It says that right after you swim, go inside and set hairdryer on low and hold heat source a foot away from you, aiming at each ear for 30 seconds. Extra info: swimmer's ear, or otitis externa, results from an overgrowth of bacteria that thrives in wet environments. And eventhough it sounds too simple to work, doctors agree that by eliminating excess water , you'll send bad bacteria away. Hope this helps.

You really can't prevent it, but if you swab your ears with rubbing alchol after you swim, it should stop the problem. I'm a surfer and I have alot of experience with this.

wear earplugs when you go in the water (make sure they're the rubber ones). afterwards, use special swimmer's ear drops you can buy at cvs that are basically alcohol. they dry out the water in your ears. i used to have major problems with swimmer's ear when i was younger, it stinks.
