It is at the centre of a very old tectonic plate. Volcanic activity tends to occur where two plates are sliding over one another - therefore at the edges.

it is not sitting on a subduction zone or real close to any plate bounder is. only those areas have geo- thermal activity or maybe a hot spot like Yellowstone. There has to be volcanic activity in order have geo- thermal energy.

Because in Australia there aren't tectonic plates colliding to increase internal temperature and heat ground water.

Australia is in the middle of a tectonic plate. It does have the odd earthquake though.

Australia used to have volcanoes but the kangaroos didn't like them. So they stopped.
