My doctor didn't drug screen me with either of my 2 pregnancies. They would need your consent under any circumstance to do a drug screen anyhow.
My dr did ask if I had done any illegal drugs or drank any alcohol. Of course I had a drink before I found out I was pg. Their main concern was if any drinking had taken place once I found out I was pg.
Now that you know you are pregnant, you should stop smoking pot (or cigarettes) and make sure you don't drink alcohol. These things will have a lifelong effect on you and your baby so it's not worth it.

The hospital tests the placenta when the baby is born and cps takes the child if there is any evidence of drug use. SINCE you are only 5 weeks you have a chance to STOP using the drugs. ALSO it does affect the fetus (baby) everything you put into your body while you are pregnant goes to the baby.

Not all do a drug screen, and they must obtain your consent or that of your gaurdian to do it. If you do have a drug screen that is positive, that information is still part of the confidential medical record. BUT, medical records can be subpeonaed!!! (If there is concern for a child's well-being, the doctor is obligated to report that. Then, the court will order the release of your medical record to confirm and have evidence of that positive test.)

All doctors dont do a drug screen and it is not uncommon to have a dirty test if your doctor does test you and it shows positive for drugs....however, if you are in your third trimester the doctor can report you to the child protective services so your baby will be taken from you for endangering a child once the child is born.

The doc is trying to identify all possible factors that may jepordize the pregnancy Smoking pot is very risky to you unborn child, may cause brain damage and disability, especially if exposed to it in the first trimester.
Also please note, if you are doing illegal drugs, even pot, the doc has an obligation to report it to your local child welfare agency. This is considered child endangerment and may result in your baby being placed in foster care while you go to jail.
Please don't use any illicit drugs, at least until you have the baby. After that if you can't give up the illicit substance, please give the baby to someone who will give a damn. Then you will be free to screw up your life.

Then you will still probably get scolded out by your doctor for doping to begin with, regardless of whether you are pregnant, or not.
