The real question:
What does this tell you about your beliefs and convictions?

No one can know for sure that ANYTHING does not exist.

But given the evidence, I choose not to worry about the remote possibility. When was the last time you were worried about being hit in the back of the head by a meteorite? There are lots more of those observed than bogeymen.

Because the boogyman is just a personification for all of the unknown things people fear.

So, whenever people fear somthing, there is thier own personal boogeyman, and they allways see it, in the corner of thier vision, but when they look its gone (because they dont want to see it, due to the fact that they are afraid of it. But if they did, they probably wouldent be afraid of it anymore, and then thier boogeyman wouldent exist).

So there are lots of personal boogeythings, but none of them really exists.

Once the fear is gone = no boogeyman, just an ordinary somthing or other. ie discarnate spirit, psychological complex or misunderstood fragment of oneself projected onto the unknown or misunderstood.

The same can be said in reverse. Also, substitute "god" for "boogeyman" and now its a whole new ballgame, although the same ammount of evidence exists for both...

You can't. To exclude the idea that the boogeyman for sure doesn't exist means you have:

a) Closed your mind (assumed you know everything).
- Chosen through logic: what you don't know can't exist

b) Chosen to be blissfully ignorant by denying the possibility.
- Chosen through feeling: what you don't believe can't be real

or

c) Have firm evidence.
- Ok, are you scared?

Oh, I know he's out there, but he can't get me so long as I can't see him (he can't see me either). ;-)

Ah-how i trained him well.

Child kidnappers were the boogeyman to my parents. So they do exist.

There is no 'boogeyman' mentioned in the bible, therefore it does not exist.

I am sure he still hides under my bed. He goes away when I turn the light on, though.

He's not under my bed or in my closet anymore, so I figured he no longer existed. Am I wrong?
