i have contacts already but was wondering do i need another prescription for color ones

No, you will still use your same prescription, but if it has been close to a year or more since your last exam, it is a good idea to have an exam and get a current script for them.

Your prescription will be the same, however you may need to go for a fitting as the size can be a bit different for colors. Also it's not recommended to wear them for extended periods (depending on the type of lens) because of the breathability of them. If you have dark eyes this is more important due to the thickness and coating on the lens. If you have light eyes it's much easier to change the color with lenses as you can get a thinner lens.

You may need an eye exam anyway because color contact don't quite fit like your regular ones. And depending on your eyes there are some contacts you may or may not be able to wear.

You probrably don't need a separte prescription but should get an eye exam

No in fact you can get them online without a RX!....but why would you want to if you have one?
