Why is it written "May contain traces of peanuts or other kind of nuts" on peanut butter jars. Are people stupid enough not to realize it themselves?

yes and no.

yes people really are that stupid to not know that there are peanuts in peanut butter.

no because most of them have found a way to sue the peanut butter manufactuers for producing this product.

it's just like all of those idiots who sued the tobacco industry for their addictions to smoking and subsequent health problems.

people want to be treated like fuhking children in this country and i for 1 am sick of this $hit.

learn some fuhking discipline and self-control.

and learn to take some responsibility for your mistakes.

Grow up America!!!

Yes. Also, people sue everyone for everything these days. The company's not taking any chances of someone claiming they didn't know there were nuts in peanut butter.

They have to cover themselves(insurance purposes) just like coffee cups have to say HOT! Some bonehead probably sued someone(JIff, Skippy, or Peter Pan) because their lips and faced swelled up like a balloon after eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

It's for people who are allergic to nuts.
If they didn't put the warning on the label and someone who was deathly allergic had some they could (and would) sue the manufacturer... if they lived.
If they died, their survivors would sue.
