I don't know why people hate or why they think it's cool to hate it. Don't feel bad. I love country music. I live it, I breath it, and I sing it. People are just ignorant that's what I think anyway. Never stop liking it, because others don't like it. It's better to be hated for who you are then loved for who your not! I like it, I love it, and I'll keep on loving it. Yeah that's right.

Personally, I'm not a big fan just because to me, it so frequently sounds contrived--the women are all sassy, and the men are either sassy or cryin in their beer sappy. Some songs are really beautiful, and they're the standouts, but for the most part, I find a lot of artists pigeonhole themselves thus.
You could say that about a lot of music styles, though. As for why people tease you for listening to it? Because they're ignorant and self-superior and figure that if you don't follow in with the same pack of lemmings that they do, that you're stupid for some reason. I imagine the correlation of country music to the more conservative leaning also plays a big part.
Ah well. Cowboy up, girlfriend.

I think a lot of people equate country music to Banjo playing or blowing on a moonshine jug. And lets be honest some of it is but a lot of the newer and younger country stars have modernized country music to the point it is now. I like a lot of forms of music mostly rock but also some country just not the old Hee Haw type of country music. So to each his own I guess like what you like and don,t worry about what anyone else thinks about it.

I think some of our best singers were once known in country music, where they have gone, who knows, but the eighties had some of the best voices of any other decade, Take Sylvia, T.G. Shepard, Deborah Allen, Janie Fricke, Steve Wariner. Now those people were not twangy or yokelish, they sang. Using their world class voices. But do people still appreciate their voices in country music today? No, they have given to the screeching, yammering sounds of Sugarland, Sara Evans, and many of the sad men singers of today. All of you country bashers out there, listen to the five I have listed and then give your opinion on country music.

Country music is similar to rap in both of them you don't really understand what they are saying.
Once in a while they have a good song.
take for instant Eminem is a f smock(i) but "lose yourself"
was a
good song.
I think people consider country music as d thing because
the southern's talk with a funny accent.
So I advise not to say you like country "directly" be allusive, say you
like a wide verity of bands, music ganders, what ever sounds good, and "talks" to you.

The reason is we have millions of people and all have their own favorite genres of music. We are free to choose what music we listen to and even though we differ in our friend's choices of music, it's still okay. Different is good and makes for a more interesting friendship. People should never judge others for their choices they make in anything, for I can promise you they don't want to be judged. Get rid of friends who make fun of you, for I promise you we need people who are for us if they are our friends. Just ignore people when they laugh at your music and don't stay around them. Respectful peope are always respectful regardless of our music tastes.

It has always been seen as the "opposite" of most of the music that I like and grew up on (R&B/Hip Hop). Maybe if I knew anyone who listened to it when I was a kid then I would like it to.... but I don't.
