I went to Vegas on a business trip because my boss asked me to go. However, I was there for a whole week and he paid me my regular wage. Was he supposed to pay me more, I can almost SWEAR that he paid everyone else more than me, but was I supposed to get all those hours paid as overtime? and did every hour of that week count (it deprived me of my regular life, that's y I'm asking)

ok... I am on an hourly wage.... and no, they didn't tell me if they would pay me more or not. And yes, you would imagine there are people who would love to go on a free trip to Vegas but not if you're working standing all day and working from 7-7.

1) If you are hourly, any time that you actually "worked" above and beyond your normal time is valid for overtime pay.
2) You could have chosen not to go on the trip and rather gone on with your regular life
3) Some companies provide you a per-diem (per day expense) which sometimes covers food, etc.
4) The employer should pay for all "Survival" expenses such as food, lodging, travel.
5) Intangible benefits include future promotions because of your willingness to travel, better projects, etc.
6) IF you really value your regular life that much where you do not like to travel, you should talk to your boss and see if you can avoid travel altogether, if not, then look for another job.

I hope you took breaks, went around and viewed the other booths, gathered information about the industry, and enjoyed the whole experience of being asked to represent your firm and of traveling away from the ordinary--at company expense.
If you didn't, and simply equated the entire situation with a few dollars, you may have misinterpreted the benefits of going on a business trip. Next time, unwind a bit and don't take such a drudgery approach.

You get your normal salary, and your boss generally pays for things like transportation to and from Vegas, and for business purposes while there, and also your breakfast and dinner. Some companies arrange a "per diem" instead of paying for meals - they pay $50 per diem each day and you either eat that much or not - you keep the extra if you don't use it up, and pay the extra if you go over.

No, you just get your normal salary. Generally speaking, your employer is responsible for paying for your food, hotel, and transportation costs while on business travel. I know a lot of people who would love a one week paid vacation to Vegas, maybe it's not so bad.

You are paid to be available to work; you employer determines how and where you are used except your condition of employment clearly states special conditions that apply.
