maybe you don't really love him. or your insecure.

You don't believe him because he had to spend a whole week to "think" about whether he wanted to keep you in his life "for now" at least. So, he said " I love you" back probably to hang on to some booty. I don't think he really loves you. Pay attention to the signs. Sorry.... : (

Because you expected an instant response, as in "I love you too"
When that didn't happen, until a week later, you have to question, why it took so long.
Now you suspect he is saying it, simply to appease you.
He should have been quicker off the mark, now you have reason to doubt his veracity.

Only you kow why you don'y believe him, but it is normal for someone to not respnd with those words right away. my wife didn;t and I waited and we've been married for over 4 years now. Trust your gut, but don't hold his delay against him.
