I have a VCR tape for my baby. I hope I can copy it to a CD so that it can be kept for a longer time. Anyone knows where this kind of service is offered? especial in bay area, CA. Thanks

u hav 2 choices.walmart photo shop can do the job.the second choice is buy a dvd recorder for under $200 and copy ur vhs to dvd instead of cd coz cd only give u vcd format which has less resolution than dvd.

i dont know of any places in california, but you can do this at home, however it will be complicated. you need some editing software by pinnacle studio. (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/Studio+version+10_5.htm )

you should have some AV in plugs on your comp. if you dont know what AV is, they are the red white and yellow recievers on most DVD players. if your comp doesn't have those you can buy a USB connector. (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/Studio+500-USB+version+10_5 ) you plug that into your computer, and plug your VCR into the device using AV cables. then you should be able to capture the footage to your computer from the Tape with pinnacle studio. then you can edit it if you wish. using pinnalce studio you can put background music, titles, endless transmissions, i do it all the time, its actually alot of fun. then you can burn the video file you have made to a DVD, CD, file on your computer, the DVD or CD should play on a DVD player. good luck
