Well, some men (and I guess some women too) think that women shouldn't work or have any interests other than their husbands and children. Yeah, it might sound good having a servant (to a guy) but in the long run, I don't see how anyone can be married to someone with no interests, no self-esteem etc. That leads to cheating, fights and just a horrible relationship. It's okay to want someone who likes to cook, but when you start expecting it or taking it for granted, eventually the other person will become bitter about it. And I certainly don't think you should value something like that over a great personality. Ppl can learn to cook, it's not very hard, it just takes effort and time. I think it's the most fun when couples cook together.

From what I can figure it's a throwback to a black time in American history where women were considered second class citizens next to men.I am so glad that things have changed as in our house my wife and I are equals we share everything good and bad and are always there to help the other no matter what is going on.

At some point in history women were identified as inferior (men were scared of the menstrual cycle, the ability to give birth, etc. insert your theory here....) and so because of certain 'doctrines' it was deemed that societies needed to be run by men and so women were forced into more subservient roles, i.e. making sure that the 'man ' can do what he does efficiently (not worry about what to eat but who to kill, etc.)

Chauvinistic men mostly. I can cook, and I'll cook my boyfriend a nice dinner. But he knows how to cook really well himself, so it's a lot nicer that I'm not the only one that cooks.

At one time in society the man worked the woman stayed home. It was natural that she was relied upon to cook.
Now things are different in that everyone in all houses must work just to pay bills.

Q: What does it mean when your wife comes out of the kitchen to talk to you?

A: You made her chain too long.

No one wants me in the kitchen, unless they want their house burnt to the ground.

because it was that way for hundreds and hundreds of years. its hard to completely undo all of the history. but its getting better, because now you see more women who have careers. also there are men now who stay home to take care of the family
