I definitely know what you mean!! It's not a good idea to revert back to diapers if possible. The best way to know when its safe to go out in 'big kid' pants is on how the child does at home. How many accidents a day are there? Have you taken the child anywhere else to use the potty, such as grandmas house? Sometimes children refuse to use other restrooms. Do you use regular underware or the training pants with the layers that make them thick? You could put on 2 pair of traing pants to make them more absorbant. Always make sure to bring extra clothes cuz accidents do and will happen!
good luck!

Go with the training pants. Your right, if you put the diaper back on they will take longer to learn. Just take extra clothes and training pants with you. Believe me, your 3 year old will not like wetting him or herself after a couple of accidents.
I would only use the diaper for sleeping through the night if necessary.

Pull-ups. I did that with mine. It is too difficult when you aren't prepared for an accident and you KNOW they will happen at the worst possible time. After you've gone out a few times (for fairly long periods of time) and there is no boo boo in the pull-ups, then you are probably good to go. Oh and....FYI --- a lot of kids hit 5 and 6 and still have "accidents" -- just "because." Don't worry if it happens to you. That period will end just like all the other stages. Best of luck.

Go with the training pants and bring an extra set of clothes in case there's an accident. Potty accidents shouldn't be considered embarrassing. Chit happens... lol Be sure and ask him periodically if he needs to go and everything should be fine.

Just went through this last year. At first we gave her the pullups, then we went to panties once she could go a few hours without going. We would also put the panties over her diaper as an extra scare for her to not go in them. My parents bought my sister barbie underwear, and told her if she went potty barbie would drown. lol.
Good luck

Until child can stay dry all night do not even try to train, if training and go out, of course things could get wet so slip rubber pants over training pants and encourage him to let you know in advance if possible but if not to let you know after so he can slip on dry pants(at 3 he can slip on training pants and the rubber ones over it himself) but in mean time no ones sofa you visit will be ruined.

why not try the newer pullups and if not then wear the underware just take an extra change of clothing with you. When was going through this with my children I would make them go to the bathroom before we left and when we got to the store we would try again. And it doesn't have to be embarrassing if your child has an accident then very discreetly take them to the restroom and change their clothes and assure them accidents happen.
