I was planning to since I had raised many pet rabbits. I never got around to it though. Just raised chickens and pigs for food. However I did have one domestic rabbit given to me (dead and ready to cook). I cooked it like a chicken. It was really good. Better than chicken but tasted pretty much like chicken. The children didn't know it wasn't chicken. Anyways domestic rabbits, unlike wild rabbits, are all white meat. Of all the meats we eat rabbit has the lowest amount of calories and the highest amount of protein.

We raise rabbits to eat. Rabbits are actually the most efficient meat animal you can raise. We raise New Zealand Whites and with one buck rabbit and two does, you can raise over 350 lbs of meat a year in a fairly small amount of space and for very low cost per pound. Rabbit is all white meat and I think tastes very much like white meat turkey. Meat from a New Zealand isn't at all "gamey" and can be used in almost any chicken recipe. It is higher in protein than beef, but lower in fat and cholesterol than chicken.
I started doing this because I don't want to be a vegetarian. I love meat, and all meat was at one time a living breathing animal. So the people above who say this is wrong, only have the right to say that if they are strict vegetarians. I also love animals, and after learning how commercial meat animals are treated on commercial farms and in slaughter houses, I started raising my own. I know my animals are treated with kindness, I know what they are fed and when the time comes, I butcher them in an extremely humane way so they do not suffer or have fear. Raising your own food really gives you a different perspective on what you are eating, and with all the growth hormones and antibiotics in commercial meat, I believe it is much healthier. With what's been happening with oil and wars and everything, being able to raise your own food may soon become a necessity!

I don't personally eat meat, but i raise rabbits and sell their meat... but the breed is specifically designed for this (large, firm of flesh, ect.) but i do not get really attatched to the rabbits... i know it sounds cruel, but it's the same thing with cattle and pigs... and rabbit meat is becoming very popular...

My dad used to raise rabbits when we were kids. He would sell some and kill some. He ate them and so did one of my sisters. He said it tasted like chicken but gamier? Never tried it myself. It is considered a delicacy in some circle. Hassenpeffer is supposedly a rabbit in port wine sauce....my mom always breaded it and fried it.....they say try it once, you may like it.

MY parents tricked me one time to eat it...said it was CHICKEN...
then told me it was RABBIT. My grandpa raised them for eating.
I cried so hard when they told me that !
So he gave me the next RUNT bunny that was born, said it was not good for meat...So I raised it and it grew over 40 lbs!
Grandpa wanted it back ! I said 'NO WAY! it is a runt remember? no good for meat!'
It does taste like chicken but the meat is tender.

whoever does that must be really cruel and deserves to get a kick in the face. what if aliens raised humans and ate us? would we like that? no, right? so why would rabbits like it if we wouldn't?
