What would cause an IMAC dual chip to suddenly go into sleep mode?

This time I hit contol zero and it snoozed. Another time it suddenly showed that spinning rainbow and darkened, then came back out. Anyone have those type of problems??? Am I hitting some keys by mistake?

In the race to get a dual core processor on the market first, Intel simply wired 2 processors together and put then in one package.
AMD on the other hand designed theirs from the ground up. I suspect your problem is likely overheating, however expect the intel chips to suffer from bottlenecks.
