Chicago was second largest city in America during 1950's. But its population are dropped as third largest city in america now.

Tell me why does Chicago's population are dropped from #2 largest city to #3 largest city.

Do you think Chicago's population will able to rise again in the future?

Chicago's growth rate was negative from at least 2000 -- from 2000-2002 it was negative 0.3 percent. In the same time period, New York had a .9 percent growth rate, and Los Angeles had a 2.8 percent growth rate.

Many of the Eastern and Midwestern industrial cities decreased in population over the same time period -- both Philadelphia and Detroit lost population. The old manufacturing jobs are being outsourced to India, etc., which means people must look else where for jobs.

Chicago is also landlocked by Lake Michigan and its suburbs, which means it has no other place to expand.
