There is a house near my home that looks to be abanoned. I was interested in seeing if I could buy it for the taxes or something like that.

You should take the address in question to the county court house and ask them there, they will tell you who owns it where they are located and give you a list of open auctions on properties taxes are owed on the gov repossesed.

Many counties have public records on the internet nowadays. Do a search by your counties name, you may need to include the state if it is a popular name. Go to the site and work your way to the property tax area. You will probably be able to do a search by either legal description, or address.

My county also has pictures of the property, a sketch of the floorplan, how it was last purchased, eg contract or conventional loan, etc.

You may be able to find out without even leaving your computer. But that may cut into your answers time too. Tough call.

Ask a neighbor for some information usually they should know something ,and go from there. neighbore that are beside abandon houses,bld,almost know the history.or go to the tax office and give the address. good luck
