That's business as usual as Washington DC. Some are even worse than that. They tie two totally unrelated bills together to try to make the opposition look like monsters if they vote no. This was supposed to be the purpose of the line-item veto, to allow the president to veto parts of a bill he disagrees with while keeping the good parts. Unfortunately, in this case Bush isn't going to veto something that he wants to see passed.
Personally I have no sympathy for the rich CEOs who sit on their lazy butts and take home tens of millions of dollars earned for them by hard-working laborers who can barely even put food on their tables. I'm not going to shed a tear over a CEO who takes home $19.9 miliion instead of $20 million next year so he can pay his workers enough that they don't have to live in cardboard boxes. Have people forgotten Scrooge in Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"? He was portrayed as a monster desperately in need of redemption. Now his brand of unbridled greed is considered by many to be the American Way.
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the American Dream of succeeding through hard work, but lazy fat cats who get filthy rich by keeping the people doing all of the real work below the poverty level make me sick, and those are the people objecting to a minimum wage increase.

Estate Tax = Gov't double dipping...how about they tax your income and then retax when you deposit your money in the bank....how would you like that?
Minimum wage increase means higher Union Salaries....their salaries are usually tied to the minimum wage. You aren't supposed to try to live on minimum wage...not its purpose.
Estate Tax is starting to hurt more small businesses...which is the foundation of the countries economy.
What is your definition of rich? Seems like noone understands the tax bracket either.
The richest 20% pay more than 60% of the tax burden. Poor don't pay taxes so what is your point? Rich don't benefit from the socialist programs put in place. And not everyone who is rich got there on someone elses work.....stop being jealous of those with money and worry about yourself.

Lowering the estate tax would benefit 7500 families, that is all. 7500 families get to pass on billions of dollars tax free so their kids never ever have to work like the rest of us. Oh and there will be less money available for student loans so nobody else can get the kind of jobs that would make them rich, either. Amazing the Republicans have been able to con the middle class into voting for its own extinction.

So what's wrong with the rich? Don't they deserve a break? After all, they are the ones making all the money.
You ever meet a poor person who started a business and created jobs? See the link below for info from IRS.

It's called an omnibus bill. It's an inherent flaw within the american legislative mechanism that has been responsible for many political abuses.
Look up the Homeland Security Act if you want to see what corruption and abuses you can speed through congress attached to a bill.

Hell no!!
It's a political move.. Republicans are shaking in their boots, the spurs are jingling.. Either way the dems vote on this they lose. A vote against it is a vote against the poor. A vote for it is a vote for the rich.. What to do? It's a slap in the face to every hard working American...

So what? It should be some give and take. i dont agree wth estate tax to begin with.
Why are so many people mad about the rich just because they have money?
Why should they be penalized for making something out of themselves instead of just expecting handouts.
