They have an excellent chance of winning. Its no longer just big names but the participants of role players and leaders. They just have to work as a team because that is what failed them in the olympics. keep in note that the puerto rican game was just a scrimmage but the real deal would be in the tournament that is when you can criticize.

They better, they just have to play a run and gun college style like they did over Puerto Rico. They also have to hit some outside shots.
That's really what International basketball is all about.
It is nice to see them call travelling on Dwayne Wade for a change.

I am a canadian. It is a well known fact that canada is the best ice hockey country in the world. Historically, our country has won more tournaments than any other country, and we have more hockey players in this country than any other. Wwe also spend the most money on our organized hockey program. However, our country has been "upset" many times, going through tournaments, not even having won a bronze, let alone gold. It just goes to show that the sport is not only canada's, but it is for anyone who wants to play.
In the USA, it is basketball. The team USA in basketball is as vulnerable to any other country, as canada is in ice hockey. However, if I were to make a bet, hoping to win, I would bet on Team USA for Basketball, just as I would bet on Canada for Ice Hockey, or Brazil for soccer. So the best chances, in my opinion... the ball is in USA's court.

If We Had Kobe , the gold would be a done deal. However, Team USA still has James and Wade. They are still angry and very motivated from the 2k4 olympics. In honesty, I'm scared of Argentina because they go 7 deep, have soild NBA pros (in the prime of their careers), and talk smack while backing it up. It's going to be tough, but they could pull it off in front of a Pro-US japan crowd. Here's hoping LeBron dunks on Manu.

Who cares? For the good of the sport it would always be better to see close games. Hopefully, if the US win it'll be a tight fought battle.
But let's be honest, the World Basketball Championships pale in comparison to the NBA playoffs. I LOVE int'l competitions and it's great to see Argentina and the other teams win it but they need to get this tourny built up more like soccer's World Cup Finals to turn my twinkie.

I think so. Larry Brown really sabotaged the 2004 team...badly. Plus, there were a lot of bad eggs on there, and a lot of deadbeat players who refused to commit so they could party...

Yes they will win this year. New crop of young players not stuck on themselves with positive attitudes and work ethic. A great coach with great leadership skills.

Probably. The bad performance at the last olympics really opened their eyes and now they realize that they aren't invincible so they're gonna take this one more seriously
