Non-renewable: fossil fuels, ores.
Metals are great conductors. They occur naturally in the earth and, in many cases, they are found lumped together in something called a "vein." They have a ton of applications, from cars to braces.
Disadvantages: They are limited in supply. Some are quite rare (gold, platinum). They often cause serious pollution when mined (mine tailings, pollution from mining equipment, etc).

Most things found IN the earth are nonrenewable. Various mineral derived from ores (iron, nickle, gold, silver, copper, tungsten, etc...), petroleum, clay, sand, stone (granite, marble, quartz, jade, etc..). These are just a few examples, but I hope you get the picture.
