You will need their prison number and the address of the prison

You'll need the inmate number, address to the correctional facility, definitely should call first to confirm their policies regarding books. Remember, every single piece of mail whether its a book or anything WILL be opened and search. Don't try anything sneaking. They WILL flip through the book for any contraband and WILL prosecute violators. Just an fyi. Also remember that if they don't feel that the book is appropriate for whatever reason they deem fit, they will just throw away and not return it to.

Depending on whether it is a state or federal prison, they may have different guidelines. Here in the state of Montana, books have to be sent from a bookstore, with an invoice.

Call the particular prison and find out their guidelines because if you don't, your package may be returned or tossed out and that's such a waste.

Ususally they have to be paperback, but you would mail the books to the inmate. Call the prison to make sure they can accept packages like this first though.

Each prison has guidelines for their detainees. Why don't you just find someone to ask about the rules at the specific prison?

Often they have to come directly from the publishing house. They can not be mailed direct. That was my experience with the California Corrections Dept.
