She is not beneficiary, the insurance co. would not release any info. I'm fearful this could wind up another "Betty Brodorick" story. Any legal advice?

Have him call her up and let her know that you know she's been checking. Should freak her out some, which is what she deserves. If she has anything planned such as identity theft (or worse!), she knows she just moved to the top of the list.

I don't have legal advice, but I have some advice:

Don't bother calling her up like someone else suggested. They are divorced so he doesn't even need to speak to her unless he wants to.

For life insurance: a married person must have their life insurance go to their spouse as the beneficiary unless the spouse signs a waiver that gives up his or her rights.

So, with that being said, unless you signed the waiver then you are the beneficiary. The only person who would have access to the life insurance info would be your husband. In a lot of cases, they woudn't even speak to YOU.

I wouldn't worry about her. The insurance company won't tell her because its against the law.

Perhaps its a good idea to call your insurance company and just tell them to watch out for her. But as far as your medical records, insurance, bank info, etc. it is illegal for them to talk to anyone other than the account holder.

She's no different than any other stranger calling about the insurance info. Don't worry about her since she has no legal rights as she is no longer married to your husband.

This is awfully odd. Your husband had better tread lightly around her. If there are kids involved, she might be concerned about annuities or education funds. If it's a simple policy then there is nothing she can get. However, you might want to double check or do an update to make certain she is not the beneficiary of ANY life insurance policy on him.

If she is checking life insurance to get info, she is probably up to no good. Contact an attorney to see what they suggest for him to do.

File a cease and decist order for her trying to research her husbands records. She's trying to gain access to information that is not hers, and could also be linked with identity theft.

Suggest you get a remote starting device for his car for him for a birthday present.
