After connecting to the internet at home for the first time, I had teething problems connecting to my POP3 e-mail address with Microsoft Office Outlook. I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird and found it easier to set up and used that in the meantime.

Now I've sorted out my problems with Outlook (it was my error) and I want to use Outlook as default, so I've set up the account correctly. My incoming mail still arrives OK, but it either goes to Mozilla or to Outlook, not both. Is this normal? I expected my mail to show up in both in-trays.

I'm a bit hesitant to uninstall Mozilla without checking first, as I've got a few emails on it I still need. Very grateful if you can confirm one way or the other.

Cheers everyone.
I found the "delete from server" settings on Mozilla and have switched it off. Thanks.

There is an option to leave mail on server in outlook.
Not sure about mozilla.
When you get your mail with either client now,
it removes it from the server.
There is no mail there for the other client to get.
If you want to remove mozilla and hold on to the mail that's
in there right now:
Find the option to leave the mail on your mail server in mozilla.
Forward all the mail you wish to keep to yourself.
Download with outlook.
Uninstall Mozilla.

Default behavior for a POP3 client is to erase the mail from the server after downloading. If you want to download the mail to both, you have to instruct your mail programs to leave the mail on the server and delete it later. What's happening is that whichever program gets to the mail first is deleting the messages from the server. If you turn off Mozilla, Outlook will get all your mail.

Sounds like you have them set to delete the email from the server after downloading. Look through the options in both and turn that one off. For the ones you want to save, try to email them to yourself, then grab them with Outlook.

It will still go to Mozilla, too, unless you forward it to your Outlook Express.

I'm not familiar with Mozilla but if it is a paid account I am sure it has instructions under "options" "preferences" "pop3 forwarding."

Then if you forward it to your Outlook Express you will see it there without having to go to Mozilla email site.

Hope that helps.
