Definitely Ovechkin is the better player. Crosby is too much of a baby now, he will never grow up.

They are both FANTASTIC players. Crosby makes everyone better and is an amazing set up man. Ovechkin makes star dazzling moves, incredible shots and huge hits. There's pro's and con's to both players.
Crosby-Pro's-Amazing set up man who makes everyone around him better but can shoot when he needs to. Plays with amazing calm and focus for his age. He's comes up clutch and is always a major part on any team.
Con's-Crappy managment dosen't handle him well. Can get cocky at times and easily loses his temper when taking a huge hit.
Ovechkin- Pro's-Unbelievable human highlight real who could make any NHL defenceman look like a pylon. Plays like Richard with a huge fire in his eye and amazing work ethic. Is absolutly in love with the game of hockey and never takes a shift off. And when he needs to get physical. BOY can he deliver.
Cons-Can be a bit of a hog and shoots when he should pass giving up a scoring chance. Because he's on a competitive team where he's twice as good as everyone else. He could have problems with his team.
FINAL VERDICT
Alexander Ovechkin deserved the Calder this year. He was clearly the best rookie in the NHL. But he is two years older then Crosby. The first three years in the NHL development are crucial to being a great player. Ovechkin missed the first year. Crosby is going to be a better player in the long run because of the lockout. If Ovechkin kept towing at this pace and got his first year. He would be the better of the two.
Crosby would be a better captain

Ovechkin Is a better player as of know I think eventually Crosby will have a better career he has more young talent around him. I would pick Ovechkin as my captain and here is why. Ovechkin gets along better with his teammates. They respect him. I do believe Mark Recchi wanted to be traded because of Crosby. How can you give an 18 yr old an "A" over seasoned Veterans. My pick for both questions is Ovechkin however I like both players and think they are great for the game.

When it comes down to skill, who is better - Crosby or Ovechkin?
This is tough to answer since they both have very different games. Crosby is definitely the better playmaker and has the better on ice vision. Ovechkin is the better pure goal scorer and has much more physical presence. Both are absolutely dominating phenoms! Basically Crosby is a great passer and good shooter, Ovechkin is a great shooter and good passer. At this point they are a tie.
Who will grow up to be the better star player?
While Ovechkin is one of my favorite players, I'd have to give Crosby the nod here. To do what he did last year as an 18 year old is nothing short of amazing. I do expect him to be a generational player like a Gretzky or Lemieux where as Ovy will probably be like a Jagr only more physical.
Who would you rather have as the captain next year?
This one is easy, hands down it would be Ovechkin. Much better attitude at this point (not harping on Sid the Kid, he just needs to mature), strong and inspiring personality and a true passion for the game. Ovy is way ahead of Crosby in terms of the C at this point in his career!

Ovechkin is a goal scorer. Crosby is a point producer in terms of both goals and assists. Crosby needs talent around him whereas Ovechkin can do a lot on his own.
However, if you watched the Olympics you say Ovechkin play in a team enviroment and be very successful. I'd take Ovechkin over Crosby since I think he is dominating on this team because he has to but put talent around him and he'll be fine.

Ovechkin will be better. I can't take anything away from crosby, but Ovechkin has it all, except a supporting cast. The guy can do things with the puck that no mortal should be able to do. If Washington can get him some help and protection, he will be a dominant player for a long time.

Ovechkin will be better for the next couple of years, but Crosby in the long run.
I'd rather see Crosby as captain he speaks better English so he can communicate with the team better. Also he is fiesty and can get the team fired up.

I would pick crosby because he got a ton of points last season most for a rookie in a season and he is going to get more next season they both have the same skill and ovechkin has been playing for 3 years in the pros

Crosby is a little better playmaker, but when I comes to scoring a goal to pay the bills I want Ovechkin to have the puck. Besides Ovechkin wouldn't be afraid to mess you up.
