Being blessed with a non metric system for everything else why does the US have a monetary metric system.?

What exactly would be a blessing in a non-metric system?
Imagine that you are a cashier and a dollar is not 100, but 99.37589 cents?!

Actually we (the US) should get with the program and convert to metric like everyone else did.
