There is a field behind my house that becomes a raging river whenever it rains hard here, night and day, for over 3 or 4 days. In 1998 and again in 2004, I'd be in my house and I'd here the loud, echoing snap! and pop! of trees being broken and then carried downstream. My neighbors and I got our stepladders out and peered over the fence at the raging river. I felt safer staying put, but kept an eye on the level of the water in case I needed to evacuate. Fortunately, my house is kind of on a bluff, so the "river" is slightly below the land my house is on.

It's scary and kind of cool at the same time. The cool part being the incredible power of rushing rainwaters, the scary -and sad-part being the people who get caught in the floodwaters and have to be rescued.

In my city, for some reason, there are a lot of people who drive around barricades during a flood, then end up either dying or having to be plucked to freedom during a dangerous high water rescue.

Right now, it is dry as chalk and hot as fire behind my house. The grass and weeds are growing tall and brown, the water in the sinkhole is still and mucky-looking. When I go hiking back there, I sometimes see the trees that were uprooted and tossed upside down during the last flood.

Stay dry and send some of the cool weather my way! I'm in South Texas.

It's nice out today, it's not too hot and not cold at all. The sun is out a few wisps of clouds, a little bit of smog in the air though. It hasn't blown away this afternoon. It will be a nice weekend. Sorry to hear about the rain and flood. I hope your weather will get better! If it was raining hard and flooding hard where I am, I would do exactly what your doing. Stay home cuddle up in bed with my cat/dog/boyfriend/husband/baby/friend who ever I can fine, have some hot cocoa. Play in my laptop, answer questions. etc..... enjoy! Don't get flooded out though!

When it rain's it pours. Where do you live that it is flooding? I just saw in the news flooding in El Paso Texas. That reminds me I got to call them up.

where it's flooding, there is another place somewhat close that is having a drought or a heat wave.

it seems the weather is extreme everywhere and where there is a disaster, that weather would have helped out another disaster.

It seems the weather is getting worse and worse every year.. the funny thing is, humans either deny they had much to do with it, or feel that it's too far into disaster that they give up hope before trying to rectify the problem that is causing the weathers durastic behaviours.

get prepared.. it's only going to get worse from what i can tell from the westerner's reactions and solutions.

I wish it would rain. I live in GA and we are having record heat and a drought. It is 6:02pm on Fri. and it is still in the 95-100 degree range and no rain in sight for at least 5-7 days.

it's 89 f here in missouri, the grass in my yard is brown and in dire need of some rain. this has been our coolest day all week and it's expected to get back in the middle to upper 90's tomorrow.
sorry to hear your area has excessive rain. i guess neither area has the best conditions, huh?

well we finished a 12-day heat wave (12 straight days of 100+ temperature) and 140+ people died in it

some rain wouldn't hurt, but i just wish it would cool down to around 70 degrees
