These aren't from Greek times themed, but they are some of the best historical fiction I have read:
Matthew Pearl's "The Dante Club" and "The Poe Shadow"
Tracy Chevalier's "Girl With a Pearl Earring"
Tobsha Learner's "The Witch of Cologne"
Kathryn Lasky's "Beyond the Burning Time" and "Blood Secret"
Elizabeth George Speare's "The Witch of Blackbird Pond"

If you're looking for fiction based loosely on Greek mythology...then try the Young Heroes series by Jane Yolen. They are very fun in my opinion
Jason & the Gorgon's Blood
Atalanta & the Arcadian Beast
Hippolyta & The Curse of the Amazons
Odysseus in the Serpent Maze

Apart from The Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer I would have to give the prize to Robert Graves for his books I Claudius and Claudius The God, which is just as much non-fiction as it is fiction. They chronicle the life of the Emperor Claudius as well as shedding light on the reigns of Tiberius, Augustus, and Gaius Caligula. If you get them from the library be sure to check out one at a time as they quite long and it may take a little while to fully get engrossed, but well worth the effort.

Try out Apuleius, "The Golden ***". It's an excellent book about later Greco-Roman times where the individual cults sprung up to worship gods and goddesses. Also The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony

Try to read Plutarch, The Biographies. These are real stories, but trust me, you will not believe them.
