Because people lack moral grounding. People have forgotten their natural roles and responsibilities.

When belief, faith and hope subsides, so does natural order. I know that many people lack belief in God, but those people wouldnt exist on such a large scale if moral standards werent thrown away over the past few generations- its true that there were always different beliefs- but there was always at least SOME beliefs that kept us accountable for our actions- gave us conscience.

The new age of so-called "enlightenment" has only succeeded in dulling conscience. Morals are going by the wayside and chaos is prevailing.

Society is comprised of people - ergo people are messed up. I'm afraid it's the way things are - the hi-tech era. Neighbors used to be neighbors, but with the advent of [to start with] TV, then computers, computer games, and then more crime with less punishment, people have become isolationists. Families don't communicate amongst themselves anymore like they used to - Mom and Dad are both working, and the kids are either running wild, or working in their 'spare time'.
I'd sound like a flake if I said that I used to bake everything in a wood stove [including bread] and it all smelled so good that half the town would appear on my doorstep for coffee and goodies.
When my kids came home from school, I would play the piano and the kids and I would all sing for an hour. We played board games too.
And when the kids were in bed, a bunch of us would gather to play crib [it's a card game, folks] and drink home made beer. Or we'd all have a date night and go out for dinner and dancing.
Of course, in the winter we went curling - the bonspiels were a hoot. Also played badminton in the school gymn,
And in the summer we went camping, and when we were at home we played softball.

Because the Bible has proffesised that it would be...It clearly tells over two thousand years ago, that men would become lovers of them selves, ..wars among nations,..the anti christ would be stronger than ever, and that many would run to hide but could not and would not be able to hide. We are truly in the last days of this system of things upon this earth, and Satan is coming out stronger and stronger everyday. All the evil you see is a result of him knowing he hasn't got long to do his dirty work, and he is trying to take everyone down with him, before they have a chance to come to the Lord and be saved...and if you think it is bad now? just wait...although the Bible says, after all these things have passed, and talks of peace, THEN look out...people, get ready

Everyone is out for themselves. People are afraid to do anything nice because it always ends up biting them in the a$$ again. In this age of lawsuits (especially) people look for a quick buck wherever they can.

Because society is made up of people who know they're going to die, and are consequently in a panic about it.
