Mel Gibson gets pulled over and is Drunk. That is the big deal, that is the crime, that is what could have cost somebody, including him, their life, DRUNK DRIVING!!! Some way drunk guy saying something he shouldn't have said and probably wouldn't have said if he wasn't drunk happens every day. BFD. Does it make him any better or worse actor? Does it make the The Passion of the Christ any more accurate or wrong? Does it make him a bad guy? No, it makes him drunk. When I am extremely drunk, I cant control much of what I say, and I bet you cant either. I mean is this really the worst thing a star has ever done? Rob Lowe had sex with a 15 year old on tape and every body got over it. Should we really as a society focus this much attention on something so inconsequential? Should we really care? Is it really going to effect my or your lives? What do you think?

This from the man who did "Passion of The Christ". I don't think it made it inaccurate or accurate. I do think that if he is a Christian man he shouldn't be getting drunk. He should be trying to set an example to everyone by trying to follow the foot steps of Jesus if he is such a good Christian.

Thank you!! DUI, that's a crime, a serious one that is taken lightly.. Speaking your mind (whether he meant it or not) is NOT a crime.
and it's not a big deal! it has nothing to do with his movies or acting, but the media wants it to be a big deal! which should raise a question as to why. and if he'd said those remarks about anyone else but jews would they have made such a big fuss about it? i wonder.
as for caring, well now i say you should, because it is going to effect your and our lives, because now (thanks to the media, and Mel's stupid behaviour) you have to pay attention to what you say and think and feel. Look at the reactions of people around the world, in your society and others, this is turning to a dig deal, you should care about WHY this is happening.
The new hip word is now "Anti-Semitic" and you'll be hearing it alot more often now from people who have no clue what it means and will use it to label others whether it fits or not .. and just so its clear it is not exclusive to anti-jewish.

This is our great communication system of today. Reporting bad news is a way to make a BUCK!

If it was you that got pulled over for drinking to much they would have paid no ATTENTION!

I think the news people should be sued for devoting too much attention to Mel Gibson. I think they should concentrate their reporting on good news. I might then take out a subscription to their paper so I can get a real education.

I agree especially since was this guy who was shooting up Jews and no one payed attention to him. Also, if anyone says the Passion of the Christ is antisemetic thgey do not know what they are talking about. The rest of Hollywood just hates him and tries to find any rewason they can to slam him. Tghe drunk driving is the true crime not making racist comments. Also, the whole thing about his dad being antijew has nothing to do with this case.

We shouldn't care because it's just glamorizing the power a celebrity has in this world and how much they can get away with because of it. More attention should be paid to all the bad things he's done, like driving while drunk, making racist comments. I am so sick of hearing about what bad things celebrities have done now

This goes way deeper (no pun intended) then poking a 15 year old. The Guy is a Homo-Hating, Anti-Semitic, Ignorant Bastard. When You are Drunk, the Alcohol is like a Truth Serum... So You say what You REALLY Feel. They is No Comparison.

Good points with one exception. Every moving violation (speeding, running a stop sign, etc.) COULD cost someone their life. People get punished for drunk driving when they haven't even made one single driving mistake, yet bad drivers just pay fine after fine and get to keep their license. I work with a girl who is 60 years old and has had "high risk" auto insurance her entire life due to her numerous accidents and tickets. She has actually hurt people and damaged property. But, since she did it sober, the penalty isn't nearly so harsh.

Let's make the laws fair.

okay. I love Mel Gibson he is the best actor... I think. and he makes kick *** movies. I totally agree with everything you just said. There are MORE worse things that other celebs have done... Look at R Kelly!!! now that was bad.... He pissed on a girl!
Oh and with what that other said... Yes it sucks that he said all that crap... but you can't be a hypocrite! as if you never drink...

Yes, it makes ihm a bad guy, because he broke the law, insulted police officers, insulted Jews everywhere, and is a lush. It doesn't matter whether or not he could control what he said while he was drunk, he shouldn't have been drinking that much in the first place. He should've been CONTROLLING how much he drank in the first place, and there is NO EXCUSE for making anti-semetic remarks.

The acts of celebrities have nothing to do with my life. People waste so much time pointing the finger at famous people because it's easy... People cannot fight the urge to gossip, and it's easy to gossip with anyone on the street about Mel or whoever because everyone knows who they are.
I think people need to worry about how their living their own lives before pointing the finger at a freakin Hollywood robot.

Well the reason that this story is so big is that the media doesnt like anybody that is the same religion as mel is just look at what they did to him when he was making his movie and if mel was a liberal this story would not be as big as it is
