Does anyone agree that if this film was shown to youngsters that they would be put off drugs for life?

Yes. If anyone thinks that this film or book, or indeed any of Irvine Welsh's novels glamourises drug taking, then they have a very very strange idea of what is glamorous!

Yeah, I reckon it would. It put me off heroin but gave me a huge addiction to Ewan McGregor though. I went onto harder stuff: velvet Goldmine, Pillow Talk - in fact, anything with racy content and a bit of flesh. Thank goodness the Star Wars films came out when they did otherwise I would have been Priory-bound...

probably, but i was an extra in traisndpotting, im on the bus when they go down to london near the end and i was also in a scene filmed at buchanan bus station but wasnt feartured in the finished movie. i must be a rubbish extra. i started taking drugs after i saw the film with my bits cut out. i was devastated and its ruined my life.

Only if correctly educated afterwards.

In fact, cut out the film, just correctly educate the children. Tell them the truth about drugs, (ie, don't lie), show them the problems and let them decide. Most people, certainly all my peers and myself, who did that stopped taking drugs.

Oh God, I hope so!

My son (20 something) even read the book after seeing the film.......myself? I can't get past the toilet diving scene; it grosses me out.

they used it in highschools in Oz, dont think it had any effects that were positive though, just turned "spud" into an icon......but still think it was a good idea to show them.....personally i loved the movie
