a little late again! Black sabbath was no2, what a voice Ozzie had then, i saw them at the California jam no 1. in 1974, tony iommi what a great great, guitar player and a lefty also, and missing a few fingertips on his right hand ,boy could he fret, geezer on the bass and ward on the drums! such a great group. but i have to get the led out, as in led zeppelin ,the best singer Robert Plant. and one of the most underrated bass players, John Paul Jones( yea i know he played with the Herman's hermits before) but what a great bass player and keyboardist. then the best drum player in my lifetime the late great gonzo, or John Bonham. and Mr Jimmy Page, in my opinion the best ever, this guy could play any type of guitar and play it better than anyone else, look what they did,! rock ,metal ,blues, Rockabilly, country, disco, and better than anyone. there immortal . and will always be the best .

I'm all about the Floyd. Of course, they first became a band in the 60s (1965 was when they first joined together, with Syd Barrett as their lead man), but they didn't really become well-known until their 1973 release, "Dark Side of the Moon."
I think I love them because their music is so eternal. Anyone can identify with much of it. My favorite song by them, "On the Turning Away", was released in the 80s (1987), but still.
Pink Floyd doesn't have but one bad song (Seamus, off of Meddle), and for a bunch of old guys, they can still rock!

I could answer this question different almost on a daily basis. A few of my faves are:
Led Zeppelin - masters of blues and rock, Jimmy Page is a guitar god
Deep Purple - At least the Mk II era featuring Ian Gillan. Two words: "Machine Head".
Motorhead - Precursors to speed metal, godfathers of thrash, Lemmy still slays 'em 30 years later!
AC/DC - Angus Young is one of the most underrated guitar players ever.
and, for a curve ball...
Mountain - Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi made such sweet music, too bad most of it, other than "Mississippi Queen," has been forgotten unless you break free from corporate radio and listen to the vinyl albums.

Queen, because there rich voices helped me to dream. Music is meant to touch the soul and that's what the band Queen did for me in the 70's.
