Millions of multinational corporations depend on the tax cuts that we make up for too. They aren't getting anythng over on us!

Every dollar we pay in taxes includes 2¢ that pays for welfare.
Why quibble over only two cents? Only a real scrooge wouldn't give two cents to help the people who can't or won't work. Grow up people!

why don't you just find something you love doing so you don't think of it as a burden?

is your life so hard that you can't bear to see how lucky you are?

I am all for individualism. A man / woman works hard all their lives so they can hopefully save a little money to help their kids get a sound eduction later.

Hard working people are then taxed left right and centre especially in my country (UK).

I am interpreting your question as 'is the current level of spending on welfare a justifiable use of the taxpayer's money?'.

Now, although fundamentally I am for individuals looking after themselves, I also recognise that there are some people who are not capable of doing so. There are also those who are capable of working, but choose not to and then claim welfare benefits to keep themselves going.

I am in favour of welfare benefits being paid only to people who are not capable of looking after themselves due to physical of mental illness. It is the responsibility of our elected representatives to ensure that the laws reflect this ideal, but I do not believe that they have got the balance right as yet because there are too many claimants who simply choose welfare when they are able to work.

A bloated welfare system betrays not only the hard working taxpayers, but also the people who become psychologically dependant upon welfare as a way of life and fail to develop themselves to their fullest potential.

We (tax-payers) should certainly not work harder in terms of longer hours, but if the government takes a bigger slice of someones pay check each month, what choice do we have other than to try and make that money back by doing a little overtime? I think if the welfare trend continues, people will *need* to work harder in this respect due to a growth in the number of people on welfare. This would be unfortunate, a little like running to stand still.

I don't hear you talking about Corporate welfare,
why is that?

there are ligimate families that need help.
especially those mothers you told that aborotion was immoral...or murder.

also, the reason welfare is there is because you never know when another great depression will hit..........

then we'll see what you say then. but for now....do what you gotta do.
