When? Not at the last two World Cup Finals and the last Euro in Portugal. They have cleaned up their act a lot thanks to the fans themselves and the policing.
League-wide in the Land of Eng there is still the hooligan element but nothing like the '60s thru '80s. It's all been shoved elsewheres away from the grounds and it still exists.
The reason those guys are animals is they get an adrenaline rush from fighting. That's it. I personally think it's stupid as they are total wimps one on one. I mean, look at some of these guys. They'd last two seconds in South Central.

I am English. It's an disease that affects some of the English people born out of a curious mix of both a feeling of superiority and inferiority. The future never looks as good as the past to some of the English and a minority of them obliterate this realisation through drink and casual violence and it is not restricted to the poorer people. Factors such as the breakdown of the family, deprivation and poor prospects probably don't help but there are also some middle class people determined to appear more working class than they actually are. In an uncertain world, the certainties of the rules of football offer some consolation buit some fans , determined to appear 'cool' or frustrated by their lot in life, resort to violence. It is only a minority who are violent sometimes but some of the English do seem to envy each other quite often and envy can turn to hatred.

TOO MUCH ALCOHOL. It could also be because nothing is done to stop their behaviour...like children, they need to be taught what is acceptable and what is not. I'm sure the English must be really embarrassed when the fans go to other countries and act that way...like in the 2006 Fifa World Cup. Maybe I'm over analysing the situation and their behaviour is a reflection of their passion; football is a religion in England!!!

You lot make me laugh. Just because a small minority of England fans are hooligans, you generalise that all England fans are hooligans.
It's the same with football matches abroad. If there is trouble between England fans and fans from any other country it is automatically assumed that England fans caused it.

How dare you judge all us England fans just because of the display of one or two idiots. You sound just like the press calling violence an English disease. There are an awful lot of England fans who are not and will never be animals! Just watch what your saying next time mate. You sound very judgemental.

As a Welsh football fan, I could easily 'slag' our English neighbours off, but in all honesty I think the English fans have been judged on past events. Yes, there is an element of hooliganism, but I believe it is jast as bad, if not worse in Holland, Germany etc...it is not highlighted as much.

overall the england fans behaved themselves in germany so I don't think its a fair comment because they were even praised for their behaviour throughout the world cup.. yes there were those that acted like complete arseholes but your always going to get that with supporters of any football team..
