I have nothing against France. In fact I think it's a damn shame the way our two countries have been divided since the old days when you (France) gave us the wonderful Statue of Liberty.

The "freedom fries" things was stupid. Most Americans thought the "freedom fries" thing was stupid. At least everyone I know did. It was just a few restaurants that changed the name of french fries.

I have never met anyone who actually hated French people. Not a single one. I have met people who crack jokes at the French's expense, but i'm sure the French joke about Americans too.

What do I like about France? A rich history, lovely women, and full of beautiful cities.

The main problem some Americans have with you French is the way you seem to force negative stereotypes upon us.

Well I'd like to comment on that question. I'm french....and those who think that we're cool and pleasant are wrong! Right now with the strikes, France is like hell! And you know french people always strike so....it's always he'll here! I live in Toulouse a southern city but my family is from Paris. So I can assure you that France is a beautiful country with very nice food....bit that's it! On the other hand, French people are rude, arrogant, not polite at all, French men are macho and for the most part were very hypocrite. Finally, people are all the same...that is to say: if you are slightly different in your looks and thinking, people would hate you and think you're not normal ( and that happens also in cities not just countryside ).
So for those who think french are romantic and nice, stop dreaming too much or come live here and then you'll see!

I think it's pretty ridiculous that some Americans are so down on the French these days. If it wasn't for the help the Founding Fathers got from France, the USA would still be a British colony.

The French are OK with me. And I'm all for the "freedom fries" label - it lets me know who the idiots are among the local restaurant owners so I can spend my money elsewhere.

The French and US cultures are some what similar... they're both arrogant and they tend to have a lot of self loathing pride.

I love Paris and the French countryside. The people in the city are similar to most city folk; but, the small towns are wonderful - I liked Visp.

Then there's the food. The french have wonderful restaurants filled with all types of delicacies. I like many types of French wines and cheese.

Fashion and beauty. There's something about a beautiful French Lady that I find difficult to turn away from... and, the melody of her voice adds to this appeal.

There's much more to list but I've got to go....

I love my country but I still order French Frys.

I am an American and I have never been treated badly while visiting France. I go to Paris every year and just adore the city. Most Parisians are helpful, and will be much more accommodating if you try to say a few words in French. And as for "freedom fries", well some people are just juvenile, but they eventually come back to their senses!(See the link)

My roommates in college were French--good people, lots of fun, GREAT parties, and very family oriented.
That being said, I think the difference between our cultures is propogated and perpetuated from within on both sides. I know of French people who think that they are intellectually superior to Americans, and I know of Americans who genuinely act ugly when abroad.
I detest the French government's repeatedly stated lack of support for the US...we used to be friends, but since Charles DeGaulle, I think things went south, and we've been lancing each other in our own little circles ever since. It's because of that that I tend to order Freedom Fries...though I've got nothing personally against the individual--unless the individual is a jerk..

No, the french suck. We call you people frogs. You have historically sold out every time it came to fight or flight. You have no backbone. Iwas stationed in Berlin even the germans could not stand the french. The club allowed the americans and the brit's even though the level off *** kickings and destruction was off the charts, it was still preferable to the french.
In reality, and I have seen it first hand in training exercises, you as a people are worthless when it comes to conflict. Due to the overall lack of personal hygiene, there would be little evidence to support you being great lovers, I would think.
If you grew some balls, and acted like grown men, stood up for what is actually right, the world wouldn't think like they do. For example, the reason the French were so against Iraq's invasion was because of the illegal contacting that was being done that they were afraid the world would find out about. Don't get me wrong, the U.S. is dirty too, we just tell everyone to F*** off. Why? Because we don't give a **** what countries like yours think. At the end of the day france is truly inconsequential.
Sorry, but if you don't want the answer, ask about the weather.

Someday, I would love to go to France for a vacation. I have always loved French food, french clothes, and wine. From what I have seen about France, it is a beautiful country, and I think the people are more polite than in America. All my life growing up my parents always told me I was German decent, and then when my Dad died, I found his relatives, and discovered that my Grandmother was french! It explains why I love so many things about France. Someday I hope to visit your country. Also, I work for a catalog company called La Redoute!
