when I became tired of drama, gossip and fighting. When the most important things became finding serenity and peace and doing the right thing for the right reasons, rather than the wrong thing for the right reasons. when I could be okay with just being right and not feeling the need to convince others of it. But, I'm still a kid at heart....

When I realized I over-spent by $30 and could not pay the rent in full. It hit home that over spending a little bit was about the same as spending the whole rent payment.
There is a Neil Young song that helped me thru those days, Oh to live on sugar mountain.....

I don't think there is a "defining moment" It's more like a gradual awareness (like all the mail being for you, but most of them are bills. Yuk!)

When I turned 20. I was like holy crap I need to grow up and act my age.... not that I was irresponsible or anything, that's just when it hit me.
