pick it up every day for at least twenty minutes, and learn to read tablature; that way you can go online and get tabs for music you actually want to play. Have fun.

I really recommend getting a guitar teacher. He/She will teach you chords and technique, but will also teach you how to learn - if they are good. Also, when picking a guitar teacher, ask how long they've been teaching, because guitar playing is different than guitar teaching. Also, don't get discouraged. It takes a long time to learn to play well, but practice really will help you. You just have to stick with it. So my advice is: Hang in there!!

Have a good song to go with your guitar sounds!Start out with having to play the sounds of the music from a song you know!

Learn music theory. It will help you later to write music as well as play.
