I don't think any of us really knows what we would do or would not do until actually in a particular situation. We may surprise ourselves or disgrace ourselves. Also you would need more details. Is it late at night? Heavy or light traffic? Could you stop if you wanted to?

If you saw a child in harms way would you try to save it? This is a hypothetical question!
I think almost anyone would like to try to save someone else from bodily harm.

I would put my life on the line only for those who are down with God, or a child. Why should I die for a satist or demonic person who isn't worth the flesh that he/she is in?
