I think your impression is correct. I've watched and listened to countless programs on both TV and radio (mostly BBC and NPR) and all I ever hear from the Arab street is how evil the Israelis are for killing innocent Lebanese civilians. There is neither acknowledgment of Hezbollah's despicable role in all of this nor of the Israeli civilians who have been killed by the endless and indiscriminate firing of Katyusha rockets by this vile terrorist organization.
I don't claim to have the answers to such complex and seemingly impossible to resolve crises as this one but I do believe that until the Muslim world recognizes Israel's right to exist and treats them as fellow human beings, this will be war without end. What ever people want to say against Israel, at least they honour agreements they sign on for. It is ALWAYS the Arabs who instigate the violence and bloodshed, as again happened in this case.
Mind you, I am painfully aware that not everyone sees the situation as I do. I recently had a heated argument with my younger brother, with whom I am very close, over the current crisis in the Middle East. He, like my older sister (who has actually converted to Judaism, btw), firmly believes the Israeli government is making a mess of this situation and that the military is guilty of war crimes for killing Lebanese civilians. I disagree, though I readily acknowledge that the Israeli response to the endless provocations of Hezbollah has been somewhat heavy-handed.
The bottom line is that like any civilized human being with even an ounce of compassion, I HATE that innocent people are dying in Lebanon AND Israel. But the fingers of blame should be pointed at the parties responsible: Hezbollah and their hateful backers, Iran and Syria. This is in essence a proxy war being waged by Iran and Syria against the Jewish state. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that (as well as the civilian casualties on BOTH sides) is simply being disingenuous and has no leg to stand on in this terrible debate.
Anyway, that's how I see things and I've been following the situation closely all of my adult life (I'm 42). I may not have all the answers but at least I know what is truth and what is fiction. I just hope the bloodshed ends soon... but I am not optimistic.

We need to consider all the deaths. Why do Israeli's and our news media put more emphasis on the handful of Israels that die from Hezbollah rockets over the hundreds that die from the Israel shelling?
When exactly did the Hezbollah rockets start landing in Israel? Only after Israel started demolishing the entire country of Lebanon. This was not a just and appropriate response for two Israeli soldiers being kidnapped, especially since Israel is illegally holding hundreds of Lebanese soldiers hostage.

The short answer to your question is that the American media (along with most of the western European Media) is, in essence, anti-semetic. Another aspect are the ridiculous remenants of the politically correct camp's post-9/11 calls for arab/muslim sympathies. We must remember what started this conflict: the blatant kidnapping and possible torture of Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah (which hold government posts) and the simple fact that kidnapping of a foreign soldier during peace time is an act of war.
