An OB/GYN - Obstetrician/Gynecologist. A Neonatologist deals with new born infants. You would not need one of those until the baby is born.

An OBGYN is a licensed medical doctor that specializes in pregnancy and female reproductive diseases. A neonatologist specializes in diseases and complications associated with newborns with major health problems. A certified midwife is an RN with extra education and experience with pregnancy and delivery. They do work under a physician in case of complications. Generally, most people prefer an OBGYN's care and a pediatrician is required to examine the baby in the hospital prior to discharge.Pediatricians specialize in wellness and diseases associated with children 0-18years of age and some will accept patients up to the age of 21. Choose your doctor's carefully. Ask family and friends about their experiences. I hope this helped.

Midwife -
The care is much more detailed and personal and the caregiver really gets to know you and your wishes. Midwives spend 30 mins to an hour with you at your appointments. You're lucky if you see a doctor for 10 minutes.

Suzyfirestarter mentioned asking family and friends for recommendations. This is a really good idea....as long as you remember one thing. DON'T just ask for a name and ask if they liked their caregiver. Ask WHY they liked their caregiver. What is important to one person may not be to another. For example, if someone recommended a caregiver to me and said they "liked him because he said I could schedule an induction anytime I wanted" or "he cuts episiotomies on all his first time moms but he did a great job sewing me up" or "he recommends getting the epidural as soon as you hit 5 cm" then I would RUN in the other direction because the caregivers in those examples wouldn't agree with my personal views on birth. SO be sure to find out WHY do they like their caregiver, not just the name.

Obstetrician/Gynecologist. You don't need a neonatologist until you have a neonate (aka newborn). With any luck, you don't even need one then.

An Ob/gyn (obstetrics is pregnancy care, gynecology is regular women's care). A neonatologist is a specialist that takes care of babies who need special care.

I am guessing you are pregnant so you should be going to an obstetrician. A neonatalogist is a doctor for premature or newborn infants

Gyne-- unless the baby is having issues, then you would see both.
The Gyne is for YOU, the NeoNat is for the baby.
