I got some guppies a few days ago for my turtle to eat. I want to try to keep them alive for a while, but don't know what they will eat. will they reproduce as fast as I have heard. Is it even a good idea to have these live guppies in my water turtle tank. I put them in there so my turtle could eat them anytime he wanted to. well, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

oh, yeah. he only catches them every once in a while so they should be able to live fairly long.

Well as they are feeder fish you will notice that your turtle will probably eat them VERY quickly. I had a couple of red eared sliders. I purchased about a dozen live feeder goldfish, and they were all gone by the end of the day. I would recommend you keep the guppies or any other feeder fish in a seperate tank, feed your turtles the pellets that you buy in the pet store, and give them live fish perhaps once a day.

Feed them tropical fish food. Yes they do reproduce quickly don't worry about that the turtle will eventually eat them. A cheaper fish is live minnows from the bait shop. You can get more for your money and your turtles will love them also.

i say just feed them regular fish food. i had some fish (not sure if they were guppies) for my turtle, there was about 5 or 6 of them and they never reproduced. they only lasted about a week or 2, not sure. it was a while back.

Gold fish food works well ,or any tropical fish food . I fed my turtle Earth worms and pieces of raw liver and sometimes hamburger. Just change the water more often.

Take out the feeder fish and go back them. Its a hardship-free delusion that turtles + monster fish want stay meals. they are particularly undesirable and performance no ideal nutrition in them. they could actual get ailment from being fed feeder guppies + goldfish. i could study the care of turtles and feed them something it incredibly is conventional ideal weightloss plan for Map Turtles. they want protein, calcium, vegetable weightloss plan, or maybe certain supplementations. Pellets are a staple and may no longer be fed accepted, turtles should be fed an excellent style for lengthy well being. besides feeder fish being particularly undesirable, they dirty up the tank swifter and make the water polluted regularly circumstances elevating the ammonia to an deadly aspect. I surely have a painted turtle and he's happening 32 years in my 1000g pond.
