Contact the county where he lived, they could probably send you a death certificate and point you in the right direction towards obtaining an obituary.

try www.dogpile.com name sounds wierd but it checks multiple search engines at one time...i used it to find the obituary of my great grandfather it helps focus the search if you know his whole name and appromimate day if death
