I've been giving my 4 month old Hylands teething tablets for about 2 weeks now and I found out yesterday that a lot of pediatricians do not recommend them. I was wondering if anyone knew why this was and why they wouldn't be safe?

Hi there! I too have a teething infant (my 6 month old son has his bottom two teeth and his top two are now SLOWLY working their way in). I have been using Hyland's teething tablets as well as baby oragel on occasion (though I try to go the natural/homeopathic route as often as possible) and infant Motrin when things are really bad. From what I just read... Hyland's teething tablets are perfectly safe but some pediatricians don't recommend them because they don't believe them to be effective at relieving the pain/symptoms associated with teething.

I, personally, have found that the Hylands tablets seem to really help take the edge off the majority of the time when my son is having mild pain and restlessness... but at other times... when things seem to be much more intense for him I opt to go with the more conventional type pain-relievers (I prefer the berry-flavored dye-free infants Motrin... recommended by my sister who is an RN... she says that's what they give to most babies in the hospital).

Good luck. I know what it's like to have a teething infant. It's hard to see them in pain.

I've given all three of my children Hylands' Teething Tablets. I highly recommend them as one of the best teething remedies out there with NO SIDE EFFECTS!

People who recommend against them are either skeptical of homeopathic medicine or don't understand how they work.

Be sure to check out the questions in the FAQ. It covers some of the questions people who are skeptical about homeopathics ask and explains how homeopathics work.

I know so many people who use them or have used them OFTEN and nobody's child has ever had a problem. I have used them myself for my daughter with no ill effects. I have searched the web and cannot find any site listing any kind of danger. Maybe you should ask the person who told you this-I would be curious to know as well.

Oh shoot i hope they are safe! I just gave my baby a dose and he has been sleeping for about 3 hours now. I'll check on this post often.

That is a baby and I wouldn't give mine anything that wasn't prescribed by the doctor. I would listen to the Dr. and next time, ask them before you give anything.
