I heard on the radio this morning the big difference. Hezbollah will not allow interviews by the press. The Isreali army will. They are asked the hard questions where Hezbollah is not. Hezbollah can release anything they wish to the media, but will not be called on it. Isreal will be put under a microscope. Sometimes, the more open you are, the more bad press gets out.
It's a different world. War is fought in the media (tv mostly) now.

Because the media is showering the public with pictures of the "horrors" of war. Since Israel is both more aggressive and more technically proficient, their is more footage of the affects of the Israeli campaign then that of Hezbollah. The media does this to make money, to sell papers, and to make themselves look good by exclaiming over the "atrocities" of war. Unfortunately, they don't make any money by reminding the readers and viewers that Hezbollah started THIS conflict, that they ignored UN orders to disarm, that they are indiscriminately killing as many civilians as they can, and that they have been a known terrorist regime for decades. Unfortunately, there are way to many people who believe everything they see and read in today's editorialized rendition of the "news".

The Israeli administrations tend to be conservative and hawk-like. This fuels a current of antisemitism in America which is hidden just below the surface and has been there for the past 100 years. And now being "anti Israel" has become trendy. Especially coupled with pro-Palestinian. It is very confused and makes minimal sense. It is a bit similar to Philadelphians who were forever pro-Indian even when they committed atrocities. People don't seem to be able to understand: there is good-and bad on both sides . They want easy emotions and answers, the black& white. It is a very dangerous trap to fall into. Avoid it. Let your mind grasp complexities.

It has to do with the media emphasizing the deaths of civilians and destruction of property. "Smart bombs" or precision-guided weapons are not as precise as it has been claimed, which results in "collateral damage".
It should be noted that at the beginning, when Hamas and Hezbollah captured Israeli soldiers, public opinion was in favour of the Israeli offensive.
