I don't live in Florida but I am trying to get all the info I can on the area because I'm considering a school there. What are good neighborhoods to rent an apartment in, areas to avoid, fun things for young people to do, places to shop, beaches, anything that you can tell me about the area would be great, thanks.

I grew up in Tampa, back then (90's) the whole ybor city was happening (bars, restaurants, places to hang out,) now Im not sure anymore, things are more spread out.
To live, by far, south tampa and west tampa (and now New Tampa, even though is a little far from everything else) are the best places to live, west tampa is by far the more affordable (if you're going to check out that area, keep it near the stadium if you go towards south Armenia ave, martin luther king blvd, becarefull.

If you want a quick beach hangout, the causeway is your ticket, is free, you could park the car right on the strip between the beach and the highway.

good luck
